On Wednesday, May 31st, the Rio School on Global Governance, Democracy, and Human Rights had the honour to host Professor Carolina Boniatti Pavese, from the São Paulo School of Advertising and Marketing (ESPM-SP). The event was organised by the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-South America Global Governance and co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme. Professor Pavese gave a lecture on the topic “EU Green: Pathways on climate governance and green growth”.
During the lecture, Professor Pavese shed light on the various aspects of climate change, exploring its environmental, social, and economic implications. She discussed the causes and consequences of climate change, emphasising the urgent need for collective action to mitigate its effects and promote sustainable solutions.
The lecture also encompassed a comprehensive examination of the European Union climate policy, with particular emphasis on its legal dimensions. Professor Pavese lectured about the implementation strategies of the EU Green Deal and the challenges confronted by the EU in its endeavours to foster sustainable growth.
Lastly, the lecture underscored the significance of coordinated action across diverse policy areas and governmental levels, both within the EU and on an international scale. Professor Pavese emphasised the need for effective collaboration and alignment of efforts to overcome the challenges associated with climate governance.
