The History, Theory & Practice of Transnational Arbitration

Bruno Rodrigues

Sciences Po Law School

Today, March 6th, Professor Bruno Sousa Rodrigues (Sciences Po Law School) delivered a lecture as an invited professor at the Rio Course on Regional and International Dispute Settlement (Rio CRIDS), an activity organized by the FGV Centre of Excellence on EU-Latin America Global Challenges, which is co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme.

Professor Bruno’s lesson, “History, Theory & Practice of Transnational Arbitration”, delved into the emergence of a Transnational Arbitration Regime. It explored not only the theoretical foundations of transnational arbitration’s history, but also analyzed the practical aspects of administering proceedings and their procedural stages. Professor Bruno’s insights shed light on the governance of international investments and how arbitration serves as a relevant mechanism for the commercial agenda.

Following the lecture, students actively participated in debates, further developing the concepts presented in class.

We would like to thank Professor Bruno for sharing his time and expertise with us and we look forward to continue this collaboration.
