March 1st marked the beginning of the first edition of the Rio School on Global Governance, Democracy and Human Rights, organised by the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, co-funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus + Programme.

Prof. Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida (FGV Direito Rio), coordinator of the Centre of Excellence, presented the course and shared an insightful overview of the Centre's activities through the years.

The students participating in the Rio School have undergone a very competitive selection process. The Rio School received 503 Brazilian candidates and 93 candidates from other nationalities. 70 students were selected and joined the class both in-person and online.

The activities of the Rio School are conducted with the support of Yasmin Paes and Giulia Romay, researchers from the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence.
