On 21 August 2024, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, in partnership with the FGV Centre for Global Law, welcomed Professor Renato Galvão Flores, Director of FGV IIU International Intelligence Unit and also Professor at FGV EPGE Graduate School of Economics, to deliver a lecture in the Rio School programme.

At the event, moderated by Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, Professor Renato Galvão Flores delivered a comprehensive lecture on 'THE DEMISE THE EUROPEAN UNION: INEVITABLE?'. Professor Flores critically examined international institutions, particularly the European Union, from both historical and economic perspectives.

The lecture was followed by an engaging discussion with students, who actively participated in the debate about the the new challenges Europe faces amid current political crises and their impact on the EU's economic policy.
