On September 4th 2024, the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, in partnership with the FGV Centre for Global Law, welcomed Professor Stefano Troiano, Professor of Private Law (Full Professor since 2005) at the University of Verona, Department of Legal Sciences, where he teaches Institutions of Private Law and Private Law of New Technologies. Professor Stefano Troiano, former Dean of Verona Law Faculty (2009-2012) and President of the Verona College of Law (2012-2015), has been Director of the Department of Legal Sciences (Dipartimento di Scienze giuridiche) of the University of Verona since 2018.

At the event, Professor Stefano Troiano delivered a comprehensive lecture on 'THE NEW EU CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY DUE DILIGENCE DIRECTIVE (CSDD) AND ITS PROSPECTIVE IMPACT ON ITALIAN LAW'. In Professor Stefano Troiano's class, a significant focus was placed on discussing the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD).

The lecture delved into the political and legal nuances surrounding the adoption of the directive, its challenges, as well as its impact on contractual law and implications within the context of Italian contract law.

The lecture was followed by an engaging discussion with students, who actively participated in the critical debate on the practical implications of the CSDD beyond Europe.

We would like to thank Professor Stefano Troiano for discussing with us this very relevant and timely topic!
