Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade as a Bridge between Latin America and Europe in the Field of Justice for Atrocities

Justice for Atrocities: Dialogues and Encounters between Latin America and Europe, University of Westminster, Londres et online

On December 6, Tuesday, Prof. Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, director of the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, participated in the conference 'Justice for Atrocities, session 1: Dialogues and Encounters between Latin-America and Europe'. After the opening remarks by Marco Longobardo and Juan Pablo Perez-Leon-Acevedo, Prof. Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida had the honour to pay a tribute to the late judge Antônio Augusto Cançado Trindade by discussing his work as a ‘Bridge between Latin America and Europe in the Field of Justice for Atrocities’.


The following panel concerning the cross-fertilization between Latin-American courts and European case law was chaired by Juan Pablo and featured Pablo del Hierro, Lucas Lixinski, Harmen van der Wilt, Federica Violi and Marco Longobardo. Closing observations were addressed by Professor Kai Ambos (Georg August Universität Göttingen, Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Colombian Special Jurisdiction for Peace).


The event was held online and hosted at Westminster Law School (United Kingdom) and at the University of Jyväskylä (Finland).
