On 6 March 2026, the Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-LA Global Challenges (CEJM), co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, hosted a CPDG In-House Research Seminar to discuss two working papers developed by researchers from the Centres: “Foreign Policy Analysis: Methodology and Conceptual Framework”, by Felipe Nobre Bianchi, and “Delegation Mapping”, by João Felipe Ortega.

The seminar opened with presentations by the authors, who introduced the objectives, methodology, and preliminary findings of their research. Both papers form part of the LATIN TALES research project, coordinated by Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, which investigates the political and legal narratives advanced by Latin American States before the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Felipe Nobre Bianchi presented the project's methodological framework for Foreign Policy Analysis, explaining how the research systematically monitors domestic and foreign policy developments to contextualize states' legal positions before the Court. João Felipe Ortega then presented his study on the composition and characteristics of Latin American state delegations participating in advisory proceedings before the ICJ, offering insights into delegation structures and patterns of state representation.

Following the presentations, researchers and invited participants engaged in a productive discussion, providing methodological and theoretical recommendations to strengthen both working papers and the broader LATIN TALES project. The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session moderated by Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, Director of CPDG and CEJM, fostering interdisciplinary debate on empirical methodologies and state participation before international courts.
