On August 1st, 2025, the Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU–Latin America Global Challenges (CEJM), co-funded by the European Union, in partnership with the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, hosted the CPDG Research Seminar on “Ius Constitutionale Commune en América Latina (ICCAL) a la luz de la Interamericanización”.

The seminar explored how Ius Constitutionale Commune, interamericanización, and democratic resilience interact in shaping legal transformation and human rights protection in Latin America, with a focus on their impact on regional constitutionalism and democratic governance.

The session opened with remarks by Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, who presented ongoing collaborative research between CPDG, CEJM, and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law. Dr. Mariela Morales Antoniazzi presented the ICCAL framework and the interamericanización research agenda, followed by Dr. Carolina Bejarano Martínez, who addressed the role of human rights actors in strengthening democratic resilience in the region.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session led by Professor Paula, fostering discussion among researchers, visiting fellows, and participants.
