On May 9, 2025, the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU–South America Global Governance, co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme, together with the FGV Centre for Global Law (CPDG), celebrated Europe Day, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration.

Presented on 9 May 1950, the Schuman Declaration laid the foundations for what would later become the European Union, marking the beginning of a new era of peace, regional integration, and democratic cooperation in Europe. Seventy-five years later, Europe Day continues to symbolize the European Union's commitment to democracy, the rule of law, human rights, solidarity, and multilateralism.

On this occasion, the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Centre for Global Law reaffirmed their commitment to promoting these core European values through academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, and international cooperation. As part of their mission, both Centres continue to foster dialogue between Europe and Latin America by advancing research, teaching, and public engagement initiatives that contribute to a deeper understanding of European integration and global governance.

The celebration also highlighted the importance of strengthening academic partnerships between European and Latin American institutions, reinforcing the role of higher education and research in addressing shared global challenges and promoting closer cooperation between the two regions.
