Participation of State and Non-State Actors in the International Court of Justice: legal mechanisms and challenges

On August 25th 2022, Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida had the immense pleasure of delivering a lecture on the topic of "Participation of State and Non-State Actors in the International Court of Justice: legal mechanisms and challenges" at the Brazilian Congress of International Law.
The lecture, which was mediated by Professor Thiago Borges, focused on discussing the legal mechanisms outlined in the ICJ Statute and Rules of Court. Professor Almeida highlighted the challenges that the court has faced in recent times when dealing with issues related to community interests. She concluded her presentation by proposing measures aimed at promoting an expanded interpretation of current rules and potential amendments to existing provisions.
Although the participation in the Congress was conducted remotely, Professor Almeida expressed her pleasure in being a part of the event and conveyed her anticipation of attending the next edition in person.
