Between 9 and 13 March 2026, Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, Director of the Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-LA Global Challenges (CEJM), co-funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ programme, taught the course "Universalism, Regionalism, and Integration" within the International Studies Programme of the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto. Coordinated by Professor Azeredo Lopes, the course was delivered in English as part of the University's LL.M. programme, which brings together internationally recognized scholars and students from diverse academic backgrounds.

The course provided an interdisciplinary and critical examination of international organizations and international dispute settlement. The first sessions explored the foundations of international law and decision-making processes, with particular attention to the domestic implementation of European Union law and the legal and institutional dimensions of the EU–Mercosur Agreement. The subsequent lectures focused on contemporary developments in international dispute settlement, examining the evolving functions of international courts and tribunals and the procedural mechanisms operating within both universal and regional legal systems.

By bringing together participants from different countries and legal traditions, the programme fostered a rich academic exchange on global governance, regional integration, and international adjudication. Professor Almeida's participation further strengthened the academic partnership between the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence and the Portuguese Catholic University, reinforcing opportunities for future collaboration in research, teaching, and international academic exchange.
