During January and February 2025, Professor Paula Wojcikiewicz Almeida, Director of the FGV Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU–Latin America Global Challenges (CEJM), undertook a postdoctoral research stay at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (MPIL) in Heidelberg, Germany.

Returning to the Institute after a previous postdoctoral research stay in 2014, Professor Almeida developed her current research project, LATIN TALES, which investigates the narratives and litigation strategies advanced by Latin American States before international courts and tribunals. The research visit provided an opportunity to further develop the project's theoretical and methodological framework while engaging with leading scholars in international law.

As part of her stay, Professor Almeida presented her research at the 317th Ibero-American Colloquium in a lecture entitled Narrativas y estrategias de América Latina ante los Tribunales Internacionales. The presentation generated a fruitful academic discussion on the role of narratives in international adjudication and offered valuable feedback for the ongoing development of the LATIN TALES project. Throughout the visit, Professor Almeida also participated in a series of research discussions and exchanges with scholars at the Institute, contributing to several ongoing research initiatives.
