Thinking about scientific integrity at the WHO level: a mission impossible?

On 18th May 2022, the FGV Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-South America Global Governance, funded by the European Commission, invited students to the lecture by Professor Côme Bommier (Secretary-General of the Société Française et Francophone d'Éthique Médicale) on the topic of "Thinking about scientific integrity at the WHO level: a mission impossible?".


The lecture was primarily transmitted via the ZOOM platform in English for the course students. However, a limited number of spots were also available for the general public. Professor Côme Bommier shared insights and perspectives on the challenges of scientific integrity at the WHO level, questioning whether it was a mission impossible. The lecture offered a valuable opportunity to explore and reflect on the complex ethical considerations within the realm of global health governance.


Attendees had the chance to engage in a thought-provoking session, with Professor Bommier drawing from his extensive expertise and experience in the field. The lecture aimed to foster critical thinking and discussions among course participants and the wider audience, shedding light on the intricacies of maintaining scientific integrity within a global health organisation like the WHO.
