Rio School Objectives
The Rio School offers students the opportunity to learn from globally renowned lecturers and practitioners on the main practice fields in international law and international relations. By combining theory and practice methodology, the course’s curriculum proposes a North-South critical view on current approaches to global governance and aims to increase awareness of the European Union´s and Brazil’s common interests and shared values.
Target
Audience
Through an innovative approach of including a diverse audience, the Rio School aims to reach a wide-range of students such as undergraduate and postgraduate students, professors, researchers, public administrators, civil society representatives, and the general public interested in the topics covered by the course.
Teaching Methods
The course is taught via participative and expository lectures and incorporates a variety of teaching resources. Selected issues will be discussed in group debates and there will be comparative case law analysis. The course demands student’s constant participation. In short, the main teaching methods are:

sentence’s analysis;

participatory lectures;

practical exercises.
Programme Structure
The course is comprised of 14 lectures given by Brazilian and international professors coming from different professional and academic backgrounds. The course will be held in hybrid format, therefore, lectures will be given either virtually or in-person.
